Microsoft Windows 8 Details Leaked

The plan details for Windows 8 has leaked and according to leaked documents, facial recognition and tablet computers apparently a part of Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8. Leaked documents detailing Microsoft’s initial thoughts on the development of Windows 8 have surfaced on the internet. Microsoft is paying attention to Apple while planning Windows 8. The prototype look like just as apple's. Microsoft alao focusing on energy efficiency areas on Windows 8.

Other key features included a focus on improving start-up times, which have previously been cited by consumer groups as a cause of frustration, as well as an easy way to reset PCs to their default settings without deleting users’ information. The PowerPoint presentation, apparently aimed at an HP executive and dated April 2010, suggested that facial recognition for log in and compatibility with a range of new computers and tablets could be a key part of the forthcoming product. The original leak has since been taken down, but a number of bloggers provide analysis and screenshots.

Now, it looks like that focus is back for Help and Support on Windows 8 and the aim is to help user. The forthcoming Internet Explorer 9 is also mention as integral to the new ideas. Microsoft appears to be planning functionality for a reset button that will essentially reinstall Windows while maintaining all of your personal files, applications, settings, etc. without the need for the user to back all of that stuff up. A scenario is presented in one of these slides to demonstrate how it would work.

Windows 8 Introduces “Windows Store”, Microsoft’s App Store for Windows. it will be an application store which will allow you to purchase applications for Windows (and perhaps Microsoft mobile devices as well, such as Windows Phone, Zune HD, etc.). All the information is thought to represent Microsoft’s first thoughts about Windows 8, it demonstrates that the new operating system is at a stage where the company can begin sharing its ideas with PC partners. There is no indication of user interface changes, although there is a picture of an all-in-one PC. This is thought to be for illustrative purposes only, however. Windows 8 is expected to be released in 2012 and the leaked information rise the eagerness to see the Windows 8 on PC in front of you.

Charge Your Mobile Phone Wirelessly with New Japanese Technology

Japanese scientists have developed a system that would allow you recharge your mobile phones and laptops wirelessly. Developed by Japanese technology firm Fujitsu, the system is capable of simultaneously charging multiple portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras and laptop computers without the need for cable connections.

The company unveiled a prototype system at an Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers conference at Osaka Prefecture University and it claimed that it was first of its kind in the world. It works on the transmission of electricity using magnetic fields between the charger and the electronic device. The technology allows wireless charging at distances of up to several metres. Scientists at Fujitsu Laboratories plan to commercially sell products having wireless charging system by 2012.

According to company, "This technology paves the way to integrating compact wireless charging functions into mobile phones and enabling multiple portable devices to be charged simultaneously without any restrictions on their position with respect to the charger. We are also looking at applying the results of this work to fields other than portable electronics, including power transmission between circuit boards or computer chips, and providing mobile charging systems for electric cars."

Windows 8 PCs Will Turn on Instant Fast

Your PC with Windows 8 will able to boot up within twinkling of eyes. Microsoft focused on optimizing the startup of Windows PCs will continue with Windows 8. According to leaked information Windows 7 customers are undoubtedly already well aware of the fact that the Redmond company has fine-tuned their operating system to boot and shut down as fast as possible. Obviously, the software giant needs to deliver even better startup and shut down performance with Windows 8.

Windows 8 PCs will turn on fast, nearly instant in some cases, and are ready to work without any long or unexpected delays. When customers want to check email, sport scores, or play media they love to reach for their PCs because they can get what they want quickly. Microsoft also revealed a few areas that are under consideration, including “Faster On from 0 Watts; Instant Sleep resume performance for mobile PCs; rationalize the user experience for the various on / off states; tools and telemetry for ecosystem optimization; performance tracking, diagnostics and configuration options for enthusiast users.”

One important new aspect of Windows 8’s evolution will apparently be the combination of Logoff and Hibernate. The software giant is looking to marry the two Off states for Windows 8 to deliver the fastest possible resume time from 0 Watts. According to leaked note, you will see the following enhancements for Windows 8:

* Multiple, small performance enhancements resulting in a large cumulative impact; remove, reduce, delay – e.g., Windows 7 “Trigger-Start” services;
* Exploit parallelism whenever possible;
* Set hard time caps on the shutdown path;
* Boot layout prefetcher;
*(Win8) ReadyBoost cache persistent across boot;
* Leverages Hibernate technology to cache most of the core system.

We can sure that Microsoft very serious for all over performance of Windows 8 and hopefully we'll see much better windows after huge success of Windows 7.

World’s Fastest CPU at 5.2GHz by IBM

The New zEnterprise 196 is world's fastest, most powerful microprocessors running at 5.2Ghz, capable of executing more than 50 billion instructions per second. This new IBM microprocessor technology has new software to optimize performance of data-heavy workloads, including up to a 60% improvement in data intensive and Java workloads.
The quad-core z196 runs at an astonishing 5.2GHz, taking the title from IBM's own 4.7GHz Power6 CPU. The new chip contains 1.4 billion transistors - 300 million more than Intel's six-core desktop CPUs - on a 512mm2 package made using a 45nm manufacturing-process.

Each core has been given 1.5MB private L2 cache as well as access to 24MB shared L3 eDRAM cache. Somewhat uniquely, the z196 also has access to a fourth layer of cache off-chip. Six of these CPUs can be installed into a multi-chip module (MCM) and will connect to each other through two controllers with a total of 192MB shared L4 cache via a 40GB per second link. Apparently the processors are so fast that this extra level of memory is necessary to ensure that they are constantly fed with data.

Another relatively unusual feature is the use of the CISC-based z/Architecture, as opposed to a more common RISC ISA. CISC has largely been superseded by RISC, but is still useful for certain operations that require very large amounts of memory to properly run.

A water cooling option is also available for the z196 that can reduce energy use by up to 12%.(9) In a normal data center environment, water cooling reduces the required system air flow by more than 20%, while removing more than 70% of the system air heat load.

The z196 will find its way into IBM's Z-series mainframes and should start shipping at some point in September. Intel and AMD fighting for the fastest CPU crown, but IBM beat them and make a record for the CPU with the highest clock-speed.

Google TV Official Website Now Available on Web

Google TV now gets its own home page which show you details about all its features and services. As you know that Google TV is now very close to launch and may be announced by Sony on 12 Oct 2010. In the meantime, Google TV's official website went live giving users and developers a chance to get acquainted with the product. You can visit Google TV homepage here. The site runs down through Google TV's biggest features and attractions list and highlights the advantages of having access to the entire web on your TV. The Quick Tour does a good job at introducing the platform to newcomers.

According to Google TV homepage, "Type in what you want to watch, and we'll find it for you. Google TV lets you seamlessly search all of the content on your TV, the web, and apps – then access it with a single click. With Google Chrome and Adobe Flash 10.1, Google TV lets you access everything on the web. Watch your favorite web videos, view photos, play games, check fantasy scores, chat with friends, and do everything else you're accustomed to doing online".

A new world of apps for your TV. Google TV will come pre-loaded with apps like Netflix, Twitter, CNBC, Pandora, Napster, NBA Game Time, Amazon Video On Demand and Gallery. Starting early next year, apps from Android Market will work on Google TV as well.

Th Google TV, also knows as Sony Internet TV makes searching for content faster and simpler than ever before. Whether you're looking for a channel, show, or website, it's never been easier to find what you want. The search feature is touted the most, unsurprisingly perhaps, since it completely overhauls the way you can find content on your TV. If you think how important search is for the web, it's easy to see the things it could bring to the TV experience. Imagine the performance with Intel Inside®. The Sony Internet TV has enough processing power to easily load sites and stream videos, while a wireless handheld QWERTY remote makes navigation simple.

There is also a developers section which shows web developers how to prepare their sites for Google TV and also an upcoming section on how to get apps for TVs in the Android Marketplace. Apps won't be supported until next year. Lets see whats the magic created by Google TV.

15 Percent of US Teens Engage in 'Sexting

An estimated 15 percent of American teenagers have received nude or sexually suggestive photographs on their cell phones, according to a study Wednesday by the Pew Internet and American Life Project. The study about the tech-fueled trend called "sexting" said that boys are as likely as girls to send "sexts," while teens who pay for their own cell phone bills are more likely to text salacious shots.

The study of 800 teens found that just 4 percent of 12- to 17-year-olds admitting to sexting photos or videos of themselves. About 8 percent of 17-year-olds sent sexts and 30 percent received them, the report found.

Teenage sexting usually is done as part of a relationship or would-be relationship between teens, the Pew focus groups found. However, those messages are often forwarded to people outside the relationship, especially after a breakup.

"It doesn't take that many people creating these images for a lot of people to see them," said Amanda Lenhart, a senior research specialist at the Pew project and author of the report.

But researchers said the study still indicates sexting, which could lead to other problems such as cyber bullying, has become part of the fabric of modern teenage life. About 75 percent of US teenagers have cell phones and 66 percent of them send text messages, Pew said.

"Kids have experience with it," said Lenhart. "It's something they have to deal with and talk about in their lives." Originally posted on this page.

Ants Inspire: A New Computer Antivirus Software

Scientists have studied the behaviour of ants to develop a new generation of antivirus software for computers.
Watching how they reacted when a colony was under threat, gave programmers inspiration for a new weapon against infections known as worms and viruses. Ants use "swarming intelligence" to deter intruders. When one ant detects a threat, he is soon joined by many others to overwhelm their opponent.

Now the strategy is being incorporated into security software under test by a team at Wake Forest University, North Carolina, US.

The "digital ants" will wander through computer networks looking for invaders. When an ant detects one, it calls for an army of reinforcements to join the fight.

Researchers believe the new ant-based system will run faster than conventional security programs which have to be updated constantly to recognise new infections.

Professor of computer science Errin Fulp said: "In nature, we know that ants defend against threats very successfully.

"They can ramp up their defence rapidly, and then resume routine behaviour quickly after an intruder has been stopped. We were trying to achieve that same framework in a computer system."

The team believe that the new ant-based system will run faster than conventional security programs which have to be updated constantly to recognise new infections.

Researcher Glenn Fink added: "Our idea is to deploy 3,000 different types of digital ants, each looking for evidence of a threat.

"As they move about the network, they leave digital trails modelled after the scent trails ants in nature use to guide other ants.

"Each time a digital ant identifies some evidence, it is programmed to leave behind a stronger scent. Stronger scent trails attract more ants, producing the swarm that marks a potential computer infection."

Beware! Using Orkut Applications may Get Your Account Hacked!

Nope, this post title does not contain any typo. This is true that there are chances of loosing your account if you use different orkut applications without knowing much about them. Since Orkut allowed third parties to develop Orkut applications, many hackers joined this stream to fulfill their evil wishes. Although Orkut takes much time in checking each and every application manually before approving it, hackers add spywares to some iframes, used in the application. It’s pretty complicated to understand what’s going on in the background process for a normal user. Let me make it simple here so that you can protect your account from hackers.

Very recently one Orkut application developer was caught spreading spywares using his application. While opening his application on Google Chrome, browser stopped proceeding further after noticing the spyware threat. Have a look on this incident’s screenshot. (Screenshot clarity is very poor)
[+]Click to Enlarge the picture
Hackers inject malicious iframes to their applications in any given time. They choose random time zones to release spywares. Although Orkut takes maximum security concerns and remove such applications from it’s directory immediately, those applications are having the ability to hijack hundreds of people’s accounts in a short span of time.

Here I would recommended you to use some powerful and strong antivirus systems on your system. You can also consider using Anti-Spywares to catch such spywares and remove them immediately from your system. If you want to know, how can they hack your account, read how hackers hack Orkut accounts.

Although there are a loads of safe and cool orkut applications, you should take the maximum care of your privacy and security. Use latest browsers (I recommended Firefox and Chrome) to get browser alerts on such suspicious attacks. If you have any such bitter experiences, don’t forget to share with us using the below comments section.

Sign-in to Multiple Google Accounts at the Same Time

You may owned multiple Google accounts for various reasons but unfortunately you can't login on them at a same time coz Google or like practically any other website out there, doesn’t provide for this feature. Sometime it can be a headache to manage the different accounts. But now looks like that Google is working on a new feature which will enable users to be logged into several accounts at a time in the same browser.

As you know that Google account is most famous coz one of the best parts of having a Google account is that it works for all of the company’s products and can also be used to log into third-party sites in plenty of places. According the unofficial Google Operating System blog, Google is testing the functionality with a few users with the likely intent of releasing it for everyone in the future. For now, those can access it will be able to turn on the feature through their Google Accounts page.This feature will allow users to sign into different accounts in different tabs on same browser. For example, they can have two Gmail accounts opened concomitantly without one interfering with the other. The feature only works for a handful of Google sites for now, Calendar, Code, Docs, Gmail, Reader and Sites. There is a caveat for Gmail users, they won’t be able to use the offline feature if they enable multiple-account logins. Right now, you have to log out before logging in to a different account.

Google advices users that want to sign in with different accounts for the services that don’t support the feature yet to either log out of all their accounts and then login with the one they want or use a different browser. Of course, there is also the option of using the private browsing features in Chrome, Firefox and most other web browsers, as Google Operating System points out. I hope this feature will very helpful to users like me.
